🧡 Hey there — we’re Simon & Matthew
We’re a married couple living in Burlington, Ontario, and we’re really hoping to become dads. We’ve been together since 2018, and having kids was something we discussed early on in our relationship. Going through a surrogacy journey is something we always knew we wanted to do together, instead of a sudden realization.
We met on a dating app (how else these days?) and soon we realized we had found something real. We moved in together not long after, and then the world shut down – Covid hit. Spending 24/7 together through a pandemic could’ve been a disaster, but we realized we loved building a life together, we finished many home reno projects and learnt so many hands-on skills during this time. In 2020, we got married right here in Burlington, the beautiful city that we currently live in.
In late 2022, we officially started our surrogacy journey. After a lot of sleepless nights, paperwork, and doctor visits, we finally reached a big step in 2024: we now have 9 embryos (5 PGT-A tested), and we’re ready to take the next step — finding someone amazing to share this journey with.
About Simon
Simon’s a senior graphic designer. He’s been working in design for over a decade and currently works at a large-format printing company that serves clients across Canada and the U.S. He’s creative and visual, always arranging things to look better, even dinner plates.
He’s also the kind of person who gets excited about small things: flowers blooming, a new paint color, a well-organized drawer. He’s into gardening, photography, and loves a good DIY challenge. He grew up in a Chinese household as an only child, and he’s very close to his parents. Continuing his family’s story has always been meaningful to him and carries immense cultural meaning.
And Matthew
Matthew’s a quality engineer. He’s calm, patient, and practical. He is very empathetic and considerate of others’ feelings. He loves working with his hands, especially building guitars (yes, from scratch), woodworking, and climbing. He’s steady, grounded, and the kind of partner who always makes you feel loved and tells you everything’s going to be okay.
He grew up in a warm, supportive Canadian family where values like fairness, patience, and kindness weren’t just talked about, they were lived. He hopes to carry the parenting forward, to show his child respect, humor, and unconditional love.
Our home & community
We live in a quiet, safe neighborhood in Burlington. It’s close to parks, schools, and trails — but also to coffee shops, friends, and family. Our house is bright and cozy, with a backyard that’s perfect for gardening, BBQs, and (one day) chasing little feet around. We also have a cat — she’s smart, fluffy, and full of attitude.
We’ve got good friends nearby, including other same-sex couples growing their families. It’s a community that feels accepting, loving, and supportive — the kind of place we’d be proud to raise a child.
