Dear future surrogate,
Intro
We are Mathilde (31F) & Max (32M), a heterosexual couple from Montreal, Quebec. We’ve been together for 4 years and a half and are happily engaged since May 2023. We currently have 5 frozen embryos at OVO in Montreal.
Our Fertility Journey
At age 15, Mathilde was diagnosed with Mayer-Rokitansky-Küster-Hauser (MRKH) syndrome, a disorder that mainly affects the female reproductive system, causing the uterus to be underdeveloped or absent. Early on, I was told that I would never be able to carry a child, thus why we are turning to surrogacy. Surrogacy is the only option for us to have a family of our own.
Our relationship
We met at a charity fundraising event for Multiple Sclerosis, and it clicked instantly. Our relationship evolved quickly as we met just before the pandemic and decided to quarantine at Mathilde’s place, which resulted in moving in together! After buying a house, multiple renovations, numerous trips and getting engaged, we are more than ready to start a family.
A little bit about us
We like to spend time with our beloved cat Penelope, cook new recipes and enjoy simple pleasures. We also like to stay active, we walk as a couple multiple times a week, we sometimes go hiking/cross country skiing and workout regularly. Mathilde likes at home pilates and HIIT workouts and Max likes going to the gym. We also enjoy trying new restaurants, hosting dinners with family and friends, and travelling.
Family Background
We are both very close to our parents and siblings. We visit Mathilde’s parents quite often given they live close by and we travel to see Max’s family every few week given they live a couple of hours away. We come from tight-knit, loving and caring families. We look up to our parents who are still together after +30 years, in addition to having always supported and encouraged us through diverse stages of our lives. We were lucky to have such a happy childhood and wishes to offer the same to our future children.
Our Commitment to you during this Journey
We envision to be very supportive of the surrogate’s feelings, and personally support you pre, during and post pregnancy as best as we can. Most specifically, during pregnancy, we aim to have regular touch points with you to make sure you and the baby are doing well and see how we can help. We would also like to attend a few doctor visits, if possible. We will be emotionally and financially supportive of your needs. Post-pregnancy, we understand how hard giving birth is and will provide any support to help during this fourth trimester.
After pregnancy, we aim to keep regular contacts with you and provide news and updates throughout the life of our child. It is important to us to have full transparency with our child, meaning that we would like he/she to meet you, unless you are not willing to.
We would like to have a close relationship with our surrogate, so she feels supported and well treated, and that we feel included in the pregnancy. We aim to have respect, open communication and honesty at the forefront of our surrogacy journey.
We are open to travel to visit you, should you not be located in Quebec.
Conclusion
We know the road to have a child will not be easy for us, but we are ready to face the challenges to come. It will be worth it in the end. We look forward to chatting further and getting to know you. Thank you for helping us.
