We are college sweethearts who met during our studies at the University of Calgary, and it was really a love at first sight. We have been together ever since, for the last 17 years and been married for 12 years.
As to our origins, both of our parents came from large families, and they have been together for many decades. Growing up, we were both surrounded by many relatives who are hard working and supportive uncles, aunties and cousins.
Daniel’s parents are both medical doctors and they dedicate their time helping patients in the Greek community and their interests are advocating healthy and happy living for patients of all ages. Daniel has one brother who is an Environmental Engineer and he and his wife enjoy raising their 2 young sons and watching them practice soccer in their local community.
Hanna’s parents are retired and dedicate their time to community work and they participate in public space clean ups to serve the community members better. Hanna’s older sister works at a local nursing home as a manager after studying and finishing the Nursing Management program. She values her only son’s education a lot, so her son takes extra curricular activities such as Piano, Swimming and Creative Writing.
Our family greatly values spending quality time together and they have a family tradition to get together for BBQ in summer, traveling together in North America.
We have been going through fertility treatments for 12 years with 4 different clinics in three cities on two different continents, but pregnancy did not happen. After several unsuccessful IVF cycles, our medical team advised us to seek the help of a surrogate. The medical diagnosis for unsuccessful implantations was provided as unknown and we have no other way but through a surrogate to bring our child into the world.
Currently we have four(4) genetically screened frozen embryos ready for transfer to our surrogate partner.
We plan to raise our child surrounded by our family and friends at Vancouver, Canada where we are continuing our careers in the technology industry. As we spent many years in Western Canada during our studies and after graduation as working professionals, we have a large support network of friends, colleagues and family members enhancing our lives on a daily basis.
We love outdoor activities such as kayaking, hiking and stargazing. We love visiting museums to study arts and culture. Our favorite museums are the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York City and Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.
We love learning new languages, between the two of us we speak Turkish, French, English, Japanese and Mandarin.
Daniel is into fixing computers, watching soccer games with friends and reading science fiction novels.
Hanna is into Tetris (or puzzle video game), baking and spending quality time with friends.
We want our surrogate to feel comfortable and wish her to be in a stress free environment. If less involvement of ours makes her feel comfortable, we would like to respect her preference and her needs. This includes covering all her costs and expenses as well as being the support network for her.
We would like to have at least once a month communication with our surrogate before and during the pregnancy to receive medical results. It’s up to our surrogate if she wants to keep in touch with us after our baby’s birth, we would be open to that idea.
Thank you for reading our story and considering being our surrogate! Your consideration means the world to us.
