About

We have been happily together for nine wonderful years. Our story began on a rugby pitch in Dublin, Ireland, where we first met — and from that very moment, we felt a connection that has only grown stronger over the years. Since then, we have built a life filled with love, laughter, adventure, and shared dreams.

We live together in Phibsborough, North Dublin, in a home surrounded by family and friends. We share a passion for being active, enjoying sport, exploring the outdoors, cooking, and learning new things. Our families are incredibly important to us, and we are blessed to have them close by. Over the years, we have supported each other through life’s joys and challenges, always growing stronger together.

Our relationship is built on trust, respect, and deep care for one another — qualities we hope to bring to our future family. Together, we are excited to create a loving, joyful, and nurturing environment for a child, filled with support, laughter, and endless love.

Des grew up in the beautiful countryside of County Limerick, surrounded by the lively energy of his five siblings. Nestled at the base of the Galtee Mountains, his childhood was filled with love, laughter, nature, and a deep sense of wellness that continues to shape who he is today. Education was highly valued in Des’ household, with three of his siblings becoming family doctors and the other two pursuing careers as a science teacher and a historian (fluent in seven languages).

John comes from a large, close-knit family in suburban Dublin. He has one sister, an amazing veterinarian, and two loving parents. With his parents’ strong passion for sport, John’s childhood revolved around Gaelic football, hurling, soccer, and rugby — experiences that instilled teamwork, resilience, and a deep appreciation for community and family. Through his mother, born and raised in rural Kilkenny, John also developed a love of farming life, horticulture, and animals. In addition, John has a strong passion for art, particularly landscape watercolor painting in nature, which helps him embrace the beauty and calm of life beyond the hustle and bustle.

Coming out as gay in Ireland brought its share of challenges for both of us. For Des, growing up in the remote and rural countryside — while beautiful — meant facing the difficulties of challenging traditional, conservative expectations. For John, growing up in a sports-mad household in suburban Dublin brought its own challenges around masculinity and identity. Beyond these experiences, we were also confronted with the heartbreaking reality that we might never have a child of our own. Accepting that we might not experience parenthood ourselves was deeply difficult — until one day, a very good friend spoke to us about the possibility of surrogacy, and everything changed. We currently have 3 embryos and are working to create more with our amazing egg donor.

We live in a three-bedroom semi-detached home with a large garden in North Dublin. It’s a wonderful, family-friendly area with a crèche directly across the road, and several primary and secondary schools nearby. There are plenty of parks, playgrounds, and swimming pools, making it a great place for children to grow and play. Des works in his GP practice just next to our home, while John works locally, and from home three days a week. We’re lucky to have lots of family close by — John’s sister and parents, and Des’ mother and three of his siblings — all of whom are a big part of our lives and can’t wait to welcome a little one into the family.

Des works as a General Practitioner (Family Doctor) in the Dublin suburbs and has been caring for patients for over 12 years. He’s a well-respected physician on the Northside of Dublin, known for his compassion and dedication. John is a University Professor specializing in muscle physiology, where he researches, publishes, and teaches exercise physiology and biochemistry. He especially loves the teaching aspect of his role — supporting and inspiring young minds is a privilege he hopes to bring to his own children one day.

We feel incredibly fortunate for the careers we’ve built, but even more so for the amazing families and lifelong friends who support us through life’s joys and challenges. We love to travel, cook, stay active, enjoy sports, explore the outdoors, and spend time laughing and learning together. Family, friendship, and fun are at the heart of everything we do, and we’re so excited to share all of this with a new little member of our growing family.

You will have all the support and care you need every step of the way. You can count on us to be there whenever and wherever you need us — to listen, to support, and to share in both the joyful and challenging moments. We promise to be there for you throughout this journey, offering understanding, respect, and gratitude.

We will ensure that all of your needs and expenses — medical, emotional, practical and financial — are fully supported and covered. It’s deeply important to us that you feel secure, cared for, and appreciated in every possible way.

Your incredible gift and this journey together will undoubtedly create a lifelong bond between us — something we’re truly excited and grateful for. Once this first phase of the journey is complete, we would love to stay in touch and share how our family grows, if that’s something you’re comfortable with. We hope to meet from time to time and maintain a connection as the years go by, while always respecting your wishes and boundaries. Above all, we want our relationship to be open, honest, and full of mutual care and respect throughout every step of this journey.

We are endlessly grateful to all the amazing women who consider this incredible journey. Thank you for taking the time to read our story — it means the world to us. We are beyond excited at the thought of getting to know you and hope with all our hearts that we have the chance to embark on this journey together soon. You are our angel!!
