Our Story

Hello and thank you for taking the time to learn about us and our hopes and dreams of becoming parents…

About us: We are Stefan and Tina a married couple from the beautiful country of Canada. We met through a mutual friend at a Christmas party and had an instant connection. After one year of dating, we moved in together collectively with our three cats (fur babies; Hugo, Chicca and Garfield) who we both love and adore. That same summer Stefan took me on a trip to Victoria British Columbia hired a horse and buggy ride to take us around the city and got down on his knees in front of our hotel and delightfully proposed! One year later we got married in a beautiful overseas ceremony with family and friends, the memories of this beautiful July day remain always in our minds and in our hearts.

Stefan who is laid back and an introvert is a loving and caring husband who was raised in Johannesburg South Africa in a close-knit family. Stefan’s mom who was a teacher and taught him to respect women. His father was an engineer and taught him to love math and science. Stefan is very close with his brother and sister who work in healthcare and law. Stefan earned his Medical Degree with distinction and went on to practice medicine in South Africa. As Stefan loves to travel, he applied for and got a job as a general practitioner in Canada. He moved to Canada and worked in various small towns and later took a job in a big city hospital in the ICU. Stefan finds this work very interesting and works hard to save the lives of people with severe illnesses. In his free time, he likes to listen to podcasts about medicine and health and enjoys, working out with martial arts such as Brazilian jujitsu, and watching rugby.

Tina is an extrovert with an upbeat and positive personality. She was raised in Saskatchewan Canada by immigrant Greek parents. As a child she enjoyed soccer and ballet and singing at Christmas recitals. She has only one twin sister (Lia who is excited to become an aunty) who was born with spina bifida(has always been in a wheelchair), and Tina has grown up to respect and appreciate people with disabilities. Tina has been volunteering all her life with disabled children and helping them learn life skills. Tina has also supported and volunteered for peace council as well as workers and unions in Saskatchewan. Tina earned her degrees BA and MA in psychology and education and has been teaching children and adults for many years. Tina’s favorite subject to teach is ESL to immigrants form other countries because she loves the cultural diversity and uniqueness of the students in her classroom.

In past years we have desperately tried to have a baby but due to Tina’s medical infertility from severe endometriosis and now menopause we have not been successful. We have cried on numerous occasions and continued to hope and pray for a baby. We have finally created with the help of a donor genetically tested embryos at our clinic CREATE and are so excited to find our gestational surrogate to help us reach our dream of becoming parents. Our families are extremely supportive and hopeful for us to have a a baby soon. They will spoil this baby with a lot of love and affection.

We live in Saskatchewan and we like this rural environment because it still has small city values such as greeting everyone who passed by. We are friendly with our neighbors and help each other with things such as shoveling snow in the winter and cutting grass in the summer. Tina is a teacher but plans to stay home and raise our child with these small city values that are important to us. We have so many hopes and dreams for our future child. We hope to raise our child with these small city values to be a person who has a desire to help others. We will make sure that our child is surrounded with love encouragement, stability and understanding. We will always be available to listen to what they are facing. Our goal is that they will know what real love is so that they will be able to love and help others in the community. We will teach the child the importance of learning through education and life learning and the importance of responsibility. We will make our child our priority and we plan to be at every event they have and to be their biggest cheerleader.

Family/friends and our pets are our most important priority. We have created so many fun holiday traditions together over the last five years. At Halloween we do a pumpkin carving party where family and friends dress up in costumes and drink hot cocoa. At thanksgiving we cook a big turkey dinner and invite family and friends over for food and drinks. At Christmas we decorate the Christmas tree and place-colored solar lights on our front lawn and finish by going to a church service. We celebrate birthdays for family and friends as well as our three cats and name days with cards, cakes small hand made gifts and coffee! One of our favorite thing to do is movie night where we get together with family/friends and make lots of buttery popcorn and watch a good movie! We value and love spending time with friends and family above all else and want to pass this on to our child in the future.

We will be fully supportive and have open communication with our surrogate over phone/texts ,videos, etc. We would like to form a close friendship relationship on this journey with our surrogate, we intend to provide her our full support while respecting her individuality and personal space. We would like regular updates on her well-being and we will be prioritizing her safety. We would like to be present for our surrogate as much as possible, offering moral, material and financial support all along the way and, at the same time, be considerate of her personal life and individual needs. Following the pregnancy, we look forward to sharing precious moments of the baby through photos and videos, and maintaining ongoing contact.

Finally, we want our future surrogate to know that you will be honored and celebrated in our family as a woman who exemplifies bravery and sacrifice. We will write and share memories and milestones with you and always be grateful to you forgiving us this precious gift. We will honor your choices, your privacy, and wishes. We will emotionally and financially support you and your needs throughout this entire journey. We hope to meet you very soon, sending warm hugs!
